Mahatma Gandhi

Revered around the world for his philosophy of non-violent passive resistance, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was known by many of his followers as the Mahatma or “great soul”. He began as an Indian immigrant in South Africa in the early 1900s and became a leading figure in India’s struggle for independence from Great Britain in the years following World War I.
